Bonymaen v Waunarlwydd | 9th Sept 2017

Bonymaen 46 - 10 Waunarlwydd

Waunarlwydd left with much to work on after losing to a typically aggressive Bonymaen side in testing conditions.

Bonymaen controlled the game throughout with strong winds and heavy showers not suited to Wauns open expansive style. Contrasting styles were evident in the first 10 minutes until the breakthrough came with a well worked midfield move, releasing Bonymaen 14 Nathan Brooks to go clear 40yds from the Waunarlwydd try line, side stepping the full back for a well worked opening score. Waunarlwydd answered back with a penalty through Lee Evans from the 40metre mark with the wind in his back. From the resulting kick off Waun were caught napping where the ball wasn't taken cleanly after play was resumed, Bony wing Sam Jones grubbering through to score for the home side. Good performance from Craig Jenkins making hard yards and tackling well throughout.

Bonymaen went in 12-3 up at half time.

Second half gave Bonymaen the wind advantage with outside half Richard Cunniffe controlling behind a dominant pack, using the boot to good effect. Waun had chances early in the half going wide, but were unable to make overlaps count. Richard Cunniffe kicked well into space with a fortunate bounce going the way of Bony 14 Nathan Brooks who again finished well from 40yds, moving Bony up 19-3. The game became a bit more one sided with Bony scoring another 3 unanswered trys making the score 34-3. Waunarlwydd finally made the try line through Adam Mort, who had carried strongly throughout the game finishing from five yds out after concerted pressure from Waun. The Score was now 34 - 10. Introductions of James Cleary,  Guy Jones and Phil Evans Improved the lack of aggression that had left Waun on the back foot for much of the game, but were unable to stop man of the match Richard Cunniffe dictating. Special mention for Alex Tregembo who ran well with ball in hand and tackles like a man twice his size.

Bonymaen scored another 2 tries making the final score:
